Apple’s inaugural foldable iPhone is reportedly on track for a September release, aligning with the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, according to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
This update follows a Nikkei Asia report from Tuesday that highlighted potential delays due to engineering test phase challenges. Gurman indicates that while the device’s complexity might constrain initial supply, Apple is targeting a launch concurrent with or shortly after its non-foldable counterparts.
With the release still six months out, the timing remains subject to change, as noted in the report. The introduction of a foldable iPhone represents a significant strategic shift for Apple, enabling the company to more effectively compete against foldable offerings from Samsung and Chinese smartphone manufacturers, which have long dominated this segment.
Apple’s device is said to feature several advantages over existing foldable phones, including resolved issues with screen quality and overall durability, along with a less visible crease when unfolded.
